Do you have stories or characters you’ve always wanted to bring to life? Have you always wanted to make a dating sim but never knew where to start? Look no further: Monster Girls Jennifer Stienstra, Keana Almario, Shepherd Cameron, and Yani Wang are here to help you take the first step! 💗
We’ll be going over how to write and create art for dating sims, and how to put these all together using Fungus for Unity. There will be time dedicated for you to start making your own dating sims, and we’ll be there to guide you if you need us. No programming is required, perfect for beginners!
For the workshop, we recommend bringing a laptop and the following:
If you do not have a laptop, we have loaners available. Please send an email to email@example.com after registering to reserve one at least 48 hours in advance.
Jennifer Stienstra is a writer and game design student. She particularly likes writing fantasy, science fiction, and romance. Prior to beginning game development, she was a journalist and has a strong background in writing. She enjoys discussing LGBTQ+ representation in games, dating characters in video games, talking about said characters to anyone willing to listen, and is currently leading a Tamagotchi revolution.
Keana Almario is a freelance artist from the Philippines, and a game design student from Sheridan College. She focuses on 2D game art and pixel art, and especially loves focusing on characters and expressions. Aside from cute and fluffy things, she is passionate about Asian rhythm games and the process of localization in games and anime. Like Jen, she wants to revive Tamagotchis to their former glory.
Yani Wang is a 2D and 3D artist from Toronto and is currently pursuing her Bachelor in Game Design at Sheridan College. She has a background in fine art and digital art and loves a challenge when it comes to 3D modelling. She’s currently a bit salty about the college strike, and enjoys watching terrible movies and WWE matches in her spare time.
Shepherd Cameron is a writer based in Toronto. She writes mainly comedic pieces and science fiction. After a year of self-exploration, she is returning to Sheridan College Game Design with a vengeance. She spends a lot of her free time making experimental games and powerlifting. She doesn’t even lift though.
Gamma Space values and is actively building a space that is woman-/trans/queer-positive, diverse, and physically accessible.
